Aqua99.jpg (14706 bytes)Herman Melville said it best when he proclaimed that every path eventually leads to the sea. For it is the sea that holds our most sacred and terrifying fears,
yet it also holds a glorious mysticism over us as a race, an attraction so strong that most of us flock to beaches, river banks, creeks, and lakes at every
opportunity to stare out into the vast blueness and wonder: what's out there?

Take my hand, Dear Reader, and swim with me through this journey of sixteen tales of watery terror. As we swim, if something reaches out of the darkness and
gropes for your ankle, if something pulls you deeper into the depths of liquid madness, if your breath is stolen from you and you find yourself inhaling nothing
but muddied water... do not fear, for it is just the ocean reclaiming what is already hers: your soul.

This anthology has quite a few authors that are regulars here at The Houdse of Pain, such as Bob L. Morgan Jr., Peggy Jo Shumate, Walt Hicks,  L. J. Blount, Steven L. Shrewsbury,
Christopher Fulbright, and HORNS to name a few.

Available in e-book format and soon in Trade Paperback.

Augur of Armageddon - L.J. BlountAugur of Armageddon by L.J. Blount
L.J. Blount (a.k.a. Myth Spinner) has been writing horror fiction for about two years and has been a fairly regular contributor to The House Of Pain. In that time he has met with much success. His short stories are widely read and published. With over forty-five publications to his credit (including Expiation, which is part of the successful print anthology Cold Storage), L.J. Blount has found a home amidst the accursed.

"The admonitions were all around; theologians beseeched humanity to bring themselves to God, the Scriptures enlightened us of the Second Coming, oracles and seers foretold of the inevitable. The end,
indeed. Armageddon or the Apocalypse as some would call it. Revelations had descended from Heaven with a vengeance. Humanity stood in dismay as God showered the world with tribulation.

We've all read the tales of the Apocalypse, but Augur provides a twist that will take one woman and you into the belly of hell only to rise again in preparations for the next 1,000 years."

TMP2.bmp (16520 bytes)Blood and Rain by John Dark (aka Bob Morgan)
A great book...dark, grim and violent--brutal savage action. Filled with sleazy sex and tense explosive fight scenes! A hardboiled urban occult nightmare!

John Dark was not a very good detective. He drank too much, chased too many women and didn't really care if he lived or died. But Julia Richardson didn't have anywhere else to turn to when her daughter vanishes into the night. So begins a nightmare journey through the bowels of the notorious East St. Louis ghetto. From sleazy strip clubs to violent street corners and back alleys, John Dark and friend Johnny Davis will let nothing stop them in a search for a lost little girl. In East St. Louis life is cheap and death is not always the end.

broken-cover.jpg (14886 bytes)Broken by Alex Severin, Hertzan Chimera & Wrath James White
Alex Severin (a frequent contributor here), Hertzan Chimera and Wrath James White (who has also had a story or two published here) have gotten together and written some completely insane and profound tales of lust, decay and terror. This collection will leave you with some bad feelings, which is better than none at all in my book. Gruesome, wonderfully written stories, Alex Severin has a;ways proven herself to be an outstanding writer. This book is for the truly dedicated connoisseur of over-the-top, gore soaked, sex crazed tales only. Or maybe you're just curious...............
sutton.jpg (17107 bytes)Cat's Paw by Mark Sutton
Horror is huge across the digital landscape, yet for the average Horror writer, almost impossible to break into. Mid-list publishing-where most best-selling
names matured--has been moldering in its grave since the late 80's, yet smaller independent publishers are making opportunities happen.

Double Dragon Publishing is making things happen with one Horror writer.  Mark Sutton would like to take this time to trumpet the recent acquisition of his extreme Horror novel Cat's-paw. A multi-character, conceptually plotted tumble into Hell. Double Dragon eBooks, including Cat's-paw by Mark Sutton, can also be found (soon) at Fictionwise.com, and twenty-seven (27) other online outlets. A paperback version of Cat's-paw is due out in October.

From the Inside Flap:
Judas Iscariot; two-thousand-years-cursed to walk with man for his betrayal of the Christ, is about to get a second chance, and receives for the second time in his long lonely life, thirty silver coins. Thirty chances to save the living universe itself. Judas must walk west, from New York to central Iowa, the small town of Eisais, at each stop along his journey giving someone a coin. Thirty conscripts in the war to come. Tomas Bryer; street slime with a budding heart. Mandy Edgerton; Judas' lover and whore. Father Markel; evil's tool. Maria Diaz; a maid who wants more from life. One coin chooses its possessor. Lovely sixteen-year-old Tamera Ditters. Profoundly autistic Tamera with the living universe in her head.

FatefulLove_sm.jpg (11835 bytes)Lost on Earth or Fateful Love by Lily Alex

This is the story of Robert and Mary Noirson, one the son of the Devil and
the other the clone of Saint Mary, who have met and married and now keep
tenacious hold on their kingdom of Hell on Earth. Their minions are those
unfortunates who have made deathbed deals with the Noirsons. This Hell is one of bordellos and trials, degradation and pain. Thoughts are read, the
subjugation is total, and terror is the norm. Here are consuming emotions, single-minded pursuits, desperation, violence, and fatalism. Here, too, are loves of all names - eros, agape, family ties, love of pets, lust for power. It is the characters' reactions to these, and to the supernatural powers they call forth and stay, that will keep you reading.

Unusual and surprising, this book assures that all is not lost, that love is everything, and that Hell has its price, a frightening price.
