The Love of a Vampire

After she returned home from working as a waitress at Porky’s, June Winters walked into her second floor apartment and started removing her clothes. She did not know she had a captive audience. He hid behind her curtains in the bedroom. When she lay down and closed her eyes, he made his move.

Within seconds, Scott Wolf was drinking her blood from her torn throat. As she died, her legs kicked then became still.

After he drank her dry, Scott disappeared through the window and flew home. He lowered the lid of his coffin just before the sun rose high in the sky.

June’s lover came home from a night of heavy drinking and approached June’s dead body. He kissed her on the mouth and was puzzled she was not responding to his touch. Backing off her, he found the wound on her neck. To him, it was as if a wild animal entered the apartment and tore her neck open.

The coroner removed June’s corpse as the police questioned her boyfriend. They searched him for weapons, but could not find anything that would have made the wound on her neck.

The next evening, Scott woke up and started walking down Main Street looking for another easy victim. After walking a couple of blocks, a woman staggered in front of him nearly knocking him off his feet. He took her hand and led her to the nearest alley. When he was certain nobody was around, he stuck his fangs deep into her throat and feasted on her blood. Soon she was empty and dead. He changed into a bat and flew away.

A couple of bums drinking from a bottle covered in a paper sack, tripped over her dead body. They yelled when they saw the gash on her neck. The police and mortician arrived and searched the area for clues as to the killer’s identity.

The news of the killings finally was published in the Hooterville Chronicle. A man looked at the picture of the victims and concluded they were the victims of a vampire. He knew how to kill vampires. You drive a stake through their heart. His friends had a name for him; they called him the Midnight Rambler, Frank Crow, hunted vampires and other supernatural creatures for a living. He worked closely with Detectives Tom Wilson and Stan Lee Stoker and was surprised Sheriff Stake had not called him.

Frank had not been patrolling because he was nursing the flu bug. It had him good too, for every time he moved he was throwing up. He decided to take the risk and called Sheriff Stake at his home.

On the third ring, Sheriff Stake answered the phone.

"Hello, Frank. How are you doing? I hear that you have the flu."

"Your sources are right, I am sick, and it’s kicking my ass. Do you know anything about those murders happening in our city?"

"Yes, I’m not handling the case personally, two new detectives are handling the case. Let me check for their names."

During the pause, Frank suffered a bout with the dry heaves. He was glad nothing had come up, but his stomach and throat ached from the attack.

Finally, Sheriff Stake came back on the phone. "Yes, their names are Dick Stevens and John Lowell. They’re new to the area and might not have heard about you. I know they’re puzzled about the case. I’ll tell them that you will contact them, and be more than happy to assist them with it. That’s if you’re feeling up to it."

"I’m still feeling rough, but will make an effort to see them tomorrow afternoon at around 3:00 PM."

   "Good and thanks."

The next day, Frank felt good but a little weak, decided he could not trust his stomach, so he did not eat. He arrived at the police headquarters a few minutes before 3:00 and found Dick and John.

After introducing themselves, Frank asked to look at the case file. Hesitantly, they complied. The scene pictures confirmed his suspensions of a vampire. "What we have here is a vampire."

   "Vampires don’t exist," Dick said.

"I suggest you talk with the sheriff on that." Frank looked at both of them then continued. The Sheriff Stake, Tom, Stan Lee, and I know differently. In fact, we killed a few of them, and I make a living killing them and other supernatural creatures you probably wouldn’t believe in either."

"Okay let’s say that vampires do exist. How do you kill one?" John said.

"Simple, just find him and stake him through the heart. That kills them and so does sunlight."

John and Dick looked at each other and nodded.

"I’m going to patrol the streets tonight, I might run into it." Frank said as he shook the hands of Dick and John as he left police headquarters to rest for tonight.

Scott rose out of his coffin and thought, I used to hunt and kill vampires, now I’m one myself. How’s that for conscience? He change to a bat and went looking for blood. Tonight, he wanted to take a blood bath after he satisfied his blood thirst.

Scott turned human when he arrived at Hooterville Medical Center. He walked in the hospital door and found the cooler where they kept the blood. After he removed twenty bags of blood and placed them in a backpack, Scott looked for a good-looking nurse to kill and to drink her blood.

Seconds later, he found one exiting the nursing station. At first, Scott just stood there watching her because she was wearing a short dress with white stockings, and he wondered if her stockings went all the way up like panty hose or stopped at her thighs. That thought made him erect, and he wanted something more than just blood.

As he mentally instructed the nurse to come to him, Scott entered an empty room. The nurse entered the room with blank eyes as if she was a robot. Smiling Scott unbuttoned her dress and removed it then noticed that her stockings just came to her thighs, and she was wearing a garter belt.

He removed his pants and ordered her to lie on the bed. When she complied, Scott laid on her and started thrusting his pelvis against hers. Scott always liked his victims to keep their panties and bra on when he had sex with them because he did not enjoy the bare skin except for the thighs, arms, neck, and belly regions. After he achieved organism, Scott bit her neck and drank all of her blood. Feeling satisfied he walked out of the hospital to his home carrying his backpack of blood.

An hour later, Scott emptied all the bags of blood into his bathroom sink, removed his clothes, and used his strong hands to pat the blood on his bare body. His pores drank the blood seconds after he applied the blood. When the blood was gone, he sensed the sun was close to rise, so he went to his bedroom, and slept in his coffin.

One of the other nurses on duty was looking for the dead nurse. She thought the nurse was sleeping in one of the empty rooms. To her knowledge, there were only two rooms on her floor that were empty. She entered the first empty room, found no one there, and walked to the next one. There she was lying on the bed only in her bra, panties, garter belt, and stockings. The nurse marveled on her co-worker’s nerve in sleeping in her underwear. "Betty, time to get up and get dressed. You need to check on your patients."

No answer came from Betty. The nurse approached her, saw the neck wound, and screamed. Immediately, she ran to the nurse’s station and called the police.

Uniformed police arrived then detectives John and Dick. They immediately started to take pictures of the scene and questioned the nurse that found Betty. Sheriff Stake arrived and called in Frank, who just got home from patrolling the streets of Hooterville and found nothing unusual.

When Frank touched Betty’s neck, immediately the images of Scott humping her and drinking her blood came to his mind’s eye. He scratched his head and looked at Sheriff Stake with a question on his mind.

   "What’s wrong?" Sheriff Stake said.

"You know that guy, who killed those gothic people who looked like vampires. I believe his name was Scott Wolf."

Sheriff Stake thought a moment. "Yes, he was shot and killed in Vamps."

"He’s the vampire that we are after."

   "How’s that possible?"

"Before he was killed, he drank some blood from a vampire."

"What’s does that have to do with anything?"

"That’s how a vampire is created. A human being drinks some blood from a vampire, and he or she turns into a vampire."

"How did he get vampire blood to drink?"

Frank scratched his head. "Couldn’t tell you Sheriff, but he got and drank it somehow."

"You better go home and get some sleep, Frank, if you plan to patrol again tonight."

Frank yawned. "Yep, I guess it’s that time of day. Sometimes, I wonder if I’m a vampire too. Cause at daytime, I sleep and at night I’m awake and hunting."

******************************************************

During the evening, Frank woke up and started his patrols. Crossing Beaver Street near the elevator, Frank saw a huge bat. He stopped and got out of his silver Trans Am and followed it.

Scott transformed himself back to his human form, and started to hunt for humans, so he could feast from their blood.

Frank saw Scott and chased after him.

Scott changed into fog and drifted toward the downtown area.

Frank ran to his car and followed the fog to downtown.

In a deserted alley, Scott changed to his human form. He was hungry for blood. He decided maybe a gothic would satisfy his dark taste and walked to Vamps. Feeling he would fit in because of his black clothes, he looked forward to seeing Tepes, the owner of Vamps, again. For when he was human, Scott tried to kill Tepes because Scott thought that he was a vampire. As a vampire, Scott was eager to meet another one.

Frank found Scott just before he entered Vamps. To Scott’s disappointment, Tepes was not there, so he walked into the backroom to see what was going on. The place was filled with people wearing black. Frank followed Scott and removed a wooden stake from his pocket.

The backroom was filled, so Frank returned the stake to his pocket. Four people were playing partners in pool. On the pool table’s side laid silver coins, which people interested in playing pool placed to reserve their spot in line.

One of the players waiting for their turn at playing pool, watched Scott and Frank to make sure they did not add to the collection of quarters on the table’s edge.

Scott saw Frank was gaining on him. "Damn, didn’t think it would be this busy, and he’s right on my tail."

Frank saw an opening, and pushed Scott against the wall and held him there.

Scott looked at him and smiled. With one hand, he tossed Frank across the room and exited through the other door.

Frank ran through the other door and saw Scott dash toward the back door and followed him. As he was gaining on him, Frank saw Scott changed to a bat and flew away. "Damn, almost had him," Frank said he watched and tried to follow Scott. Scott flew toward Frank’s Trans Am, so he jumped in and followed him.

Suddenly, Frank knew where Scott was going. He stepped on the gas and tried to beat him there. To Frank, Scott was heading toward a warehouse on the East end of town.

Scott arrived; hoping to relax a little, then ran into the warehouse and hid behind a stack of food. Since the warehouse was full of stacks of food, he thought he would blend in and be safe.

Frank arrived at the warehouse and entered it. He looked back and forth for any signs of his prey and removed a stake. A noise came from behind him, Frank turned around just as Scott charged at him full speed. With all of his might, Frank shoved the stake through Scott’s heart. Seconds later, Scott fell on the floor trying to remove the stake, but could not. He died then turned to dust and a strange wind blew the dust away.
